Topic: SSL on webareas?

It would be nice.

It would need a validated domain OR a SSL cert/private key for a domain.

Re: SSL on webareas?

There is already SSL on webareas for a while, with a not-so-valid certificate (self signed and for web.tuxfamily.net), better than nothing ;-)

Perhaps a wildcard (*) certification from CAcert would be better.

Yes. But what about the custom web domains? (alas like my group SocialMe).

That would need a <VirtualHost/> and a dedicated IP per website, none of them are available on TuxFamily ;-)

Re: SSL on webareas?

Oh well :)

Re: SSL on webareas?

What's the current progress about the wildcard certificate? Would be great to have a "valid" certificate for projects!

Re: SSL on webareas?

There are one free certificate provider, called startssl.com. can sign infinity domains but not wildcard

Re: SSL on webareas?

CAcert too, and this project is near the TuxFamily way of thinking.

The first question is what would be better between:

- A * certificate but self signed

- A *.tuxfamily.org certificate but signed by CAcert/startssl/whatever, thus not valid for custom domain names
