I know tuxfamily is more or less in a declining state, but is there a possibility to renew the certificate anyway ?

The repository servers have been down for more than a week for several times in 2024 (and only some few times this has been mentioned on the news page at all), currently the download.tuxfamily.org server seems to be offline again and there is no official mention about it anywhere (at least I haven't seen it), there are unanswered issues with accessing the servers due to backlevel crypto libraries on them (see https://forum.tuxfamily.org/topic/774/ ) ... all in all, it feels like Tuxfamily is pretty much neglected nowadays, which is a real pity :-(

So may I ask: What's up? Has the motivation gone? Or is it just a temporary low that will hopefully be solved soon? Are there any ways to help (e.g. donations?)?

I already had "HostKeyAlgorithms=+ssh-rsa" in my ~/.ssh/config file, but seems like this is not sufficient enough anymore.

I got it working again by running "sudo update-crypto-policies --set LEGACY" on my computer, but I really would like to avoid running in legacy crypto mode. Is there another way to fix this e.g. via the ssh config file? Or is there a chance that the git server of Tuxfamily.org could get updated to a newer, less backlevel version? Thanks for any help!

this is from some PC with working IPV6 connectivity, so it seems the problem is specific to tuxfamily site.

used to show downloads for .dat files - for example last September - but appears to have stopped counting them since I updated the single .dat file a few weeks ago.

The stats usually show up under File Type and Downloads.

Is there a way to get stats for the .dat file downloads back?

I'm a developer with the Battle for Wesnoth project. We recently moved most of our email setup (redirects, mailing lists) here to TuxFamily, however an issue we're running into is that emails sent on from the mailing lists are getting marked as spam, although emails sent on by the redirects are fine.

For myself I'm getting this warning, and another developer reported "my ISP added an X-Barracuda-Spam-Report header pointing out that the From: address didn't include a real name".

Is there a way for the mailing list emails to not end up marked as spam?

- we are using the domain name exult.info that I pay for (probably the only thing I cannot make future proof) and I see that on requesting webspace I can enter that. Question is: should I (yet)? Migration will take a bit and in the meantime our webpage at SF should still work while I want to be able to test things out on tuxfamily. When I enter exult.info at the webspace request, can I test it even though http://exult.info still points at the SF page?

- how can I update the webpage automatically? Our webpage source is on github, when we change something there a github action runs, that uploads a zip of the webpage code to SF, then opens an interactive shell there and unzips the webpage to its place. At first glance it looks as if that would work here as well (except you don't need to start an interactive shell but just log in via ssh?).

- AFAICT installing phpBB is not a problem and I guess all the mail stuff works :) (huge problem on SF is that they disabled all outgoing scripts, prwebmail, etc... which makes hosting a support forum a real pain). We have very little traffic :)

- once I have everything set up, the site can be secured via an SSL certificate, right? How is that done?

Sorry for the many questions but I want to do it right before maing a mess :)

I just have a small problem, I have followed the instructions in the link above and apparently the composer is not activated, it seems it is as if the files are not there, I don't know how to do it.

During installation phpBB complains PHP 7.1.3 or higher is not available.

The Tux FAQ mentions:

In order to execute PHP7 instead of PHP5, edit/add a .htaccess file and add:
   AddType application/x-httpd-php7 .php

If that is the fix, where do I place this .htaccess file? I cannot find an existing one anywhere. And is it simply a file named .htaccess with the single line: "AddType application/x-httpd-php7 .php"  ?

I can use a different BB if needed.

I abandoned the phpBB-3.3.3 effort.
Installed punbb-1.4.6 instead - much smaller.

Another update:
Cannot get punbb-1.4.6 to work via https.
Loggins are unsecure.

Is there a fix for this?

Any help would be appreciated.
